The Shreveport Mudbugs clinch the South Division in OT

The Shreveport Mudbugs (41-10-3-3) got the game-winning goal scored from Jordan Fader in OT to top the Lone Star Brahmas clinching the South Division crown Friday night in Georges Pond at Hirsch Coliseum.
The Mudbugs and Brahmas had a high octane first period filled with great scoring chances from both, but a scoreless affair after one period of play. Shreveport led in SOG, 9-6.
The 2nd period was dominated from the Mudbugs with glorious scoring chances, but Brahmas’ goalie Mitchell Gibson made big saves to keep the game scoreless. Shreveport led in SOG, 24-9 after two periods of play.
After a scoreless third, the Shreveport Mudbugs clinched the South Division by earning a point in the contest.
The Bugs wanted icing on the cake and they got it when Jordan Fader put an innocent wrister on net which beat Gibson for his 16th goal of the game just 19 seconds into the OT session giving Shreveport a dramatic 1-0 victory. Gueorgui Feduolov and Nikolai Jenson got the assists on the game-winning goal.
Jaxon Castor picked up the shutout making 18 saves including a few big stops in the 3rd period to preserve the South Divisional title for Shreveport.

The Mudbugs will conclude their two-game set with the Brahmas and finish off their regular season home schedule tomorrow night in Georges Pond at Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm. ​
