‘Making The Band’ is Making a Return in 2020

P. Diddy is bringing Making The Band back to MTV and he wants you to audition. After seeing tons of throwback clips of the show on social media, he’s giving the fans what they want. He announced on all of his social media platforms that it will return on MTV in 2020 and if anyone 18 and over is interested they can audition. All they have to do is make a video, post it, and use the hashtag #MTBCasting. MTV is partnering with Smule a music app that will curate a playlist of songs for fans to audition with. The entrepreneur said in a statement, “MTV and I are back together again! Making the Band is coming back bigger, bolder and more cutting edge. MTB on MTV was the pioneer of reality tv. We’re going to bring that supernatural energy back to the format and bring the world it’s next global superstars.”

The reality show was created back in 2000 by Lou Pearlman who discovered the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. It was then moved to MTV and taken over by Diddy in 2002 paving the way for many current competition shows.

With three seasons Diddy founded rap group Da Band on Making the Band 2, girl group Danity Kane on Making the Band 3, and R&B group Day26 on Making the Band 4.

In the video announcement, he explained, “Sometimes you live in your own bubble and you may not really know the importance of something you created. With Making the Band, myself and MTV, we created something special. We empowered young talent from all over the world, no matter what hood they were from, no matter what background they were from, everybody got a chance if they could sing, they could rap, they could dance if they could show their talent. I loved it, it was one of the happiest times of my life.”

This just adds to the list of exciting things to look forward to in 2020!
