Weight Watchers just launched an app targeted toward kids called “Kurb.”
They tout it as a mobile app that “helps kids and teens develop healthy eating and exercise habits that benefit the whole family with expert health coaching,” but a LOT of nutritionists and medical professionals have MAJOR problems with it, from restricted dieting to disordered eating.
Dieting can be a major precursor to eating disorders…and honestly, while nutrition is super important to teach kids, should we really be focusing on – and gamifying – the weight loss angle of it?
Isn’t there a way to teach kids about healthy eating and overall health and wellness without focusing on the scale and “Transformation Tuesday?”
