The Bert Show: Should He Take A Miserable Job For More Money?

You have a chance to get a job that pays you $10K more a year, but you KNOW you’ll be miserable because EVERYONE there hates it. Do you take it?

We got this email from one Bert Show listener who has a great opportunity to make more money, but it means longer hours, toxic management, and mandatory overtime in a place where everyone is miserable. And right now, they’re in a great job with good hours where they’re happy. What do they do?

The email:

Hey Bert Show! I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. A couple of months ago I was promoted at my job and I love it! Perfect schedule and pay. I’m big on family so the schedule allowed me to spend plenty of time every single day after work with them.

Well, recently I was offered ANOTHER promotion at a different location.
Only problem is the location is AAAAWWWWWFUL! The vibe is extremely negative, management are always fighting amongst themselves, and morale is rock bottom. The employees there are extremely tired and never see their families because they have “Mandatory Overtime.”

One day last week they forced people to work 5am-12am and then had to turn around and come back in at 5am the next morning. The employees are
planning to quit because of days like this without warning. The good side is if I stay I’ll make close to another 10 Grand a year if I go through with this.

People I’ve asked are split, some say go for the money man! While others say time is precious and family is way more important than money! What do you think? You guys are amazing and the show is blessing to all that hear it! Hope to hear your advice!
