“The Nightmare Before Christmas” came out 26 years ago . . . and fans have spent the past 26 years arguing over whether it’s a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie. (#FirstWorldProblems)
But the debate is now OVER. Or not.
The movie’s composer Danny Elfman says, quote, “It’s obviously ABOUT Christmas, but for me, it’s a Halloween movie. Growing up, Halloween was my favorite night of the year.”
In the past, the director Henry Selick has said that it’s a Halloween movie, because it’s mainly about characters from Halloween.
That said, a lot of fans consider it just as much a Christmas movie as a Halloween one . . . so why can’t it be both? Is it a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie? The answer is . . . YES.
(A movie CAN be two things at once. Like, “Love Actually” is both a Christmas movie and a terribly over-hyped movie that’s barely good enough for the Hallmark Channel.) (???)
