Our listener doesn’t know how she should disciple her 4-year-old daughter. She has an extravagant birthday party coming up, but her daughter cut off her classmates hair!
Should she cancel the party?
Here’s her email:
Hi, my daughter who is 4 years old has a birthday coming up that she’s so excited about. She hasn’t stopped talking about it for months. We’re supposed to be going ice skating and she says she’ll be just like Elsa and freeze the whole rink!
Well her mouth is pretty sassy and she’s been getting away with a lot at home because I have two other small children who also need my attention all the time as well. So needless to say she’s been walking on ‘thin ice’ lol.
Unfortunately on Monday my husband got an email from her pre-K teacher saying that the class was having center time and leighla ran into the art center, grabbed scissors, ran back to her center and proceeded to cut her fellow classmates hair!! I was so distraught when I got the message from my husband because she knows better!! She has locs (like the entire family) and I instruct her to never let anyone touch her hair. There’s even been a time where I threatened to cut her hair (as a joke) cause she kept putting her hands in it. I can only imagine the parent of the other child.
Should I or should I not let her have her extravagant birthday celebration that she’s been looking forward to for weeks. Or should I just cancel the whole thing to teach her a lesson?
Thanks so much.
