Today Is World Suicid Prevention Day.. Here’s Why This Day Is Important To Me

Suicide is an epidemic that effects so many in our country, and numbers of depression and suicide rates have only increased during the pandemic and quarantine.Β  I’ve battled depression and anxiety issues since I was a teenager, and while I’ve never been at a point of suicide personally, I know what it’s like to feel hopeless and like there is no hope.

But, there’sΒ  more to the reason today is important to me besides that… Several years ago my grandfather killed himself.Β  Β Over the years I think our family has obviously accepted and processed it, but, not only did it leave heart break and the mourning of a loved one lost – but, so many unanswered questions… I only wish he had talked to someone about the emotional and mental pain he was feeling… if you’re feeling like there’s no help, there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.. if you’re even thinking this is the option… let me tell you this — you matter, and as cliche as it sounds – it WILL get better.Β  There’s always someone to talk to.. I’ve posted some resources below that can help you … the National Suicide Prevention Hotline is also here for you ALWAYS.. call 1-800-273-8255 or text 741741
