The Average Thanksgiving Meal In Shreveport This Year Will Cost WHAT?!

The American Farm Bureau Federation just put out its annual Thanksgiving report.  And as expected the cost of Thanksgiving dinner is up this year. It will cost about 20% more this year than last year. The average price for Thanksgiving dinner in Shreveport for a ten is estimated to be an average of about $64, or around $6 or so per person. That’s up from $5.33 from 2021.

Our inflation is less than other parts of the country though. In the Northeast the average is $6.40 . . . the Midwest is even higher at $6.42 . . . and out West, inflation has really hit food prices where the average Thanksgiving dinner is $7.14 per guest.

The biggest price jump this year isn’t for turkey – it’s for stuffing, up 69%.  Based on the average, here’s what everything in their “typical” Thanksgiving feast costs . . .

A 16-pound turkey, $28.96 . . . stuffing, $3.88 . . . cranberry sauce, $2.57 . . . sweet potatoes, $3.96 . . . dinner rolls, $3.73 . . . peas, $1.90 . . . carrots and celery, 88 cents . . . pumpkin pie mix, $4.28 . . . two pie crusts, $3.68 . . . a half-pint of whipped cream, $2.24 . . . and a gallon of milk, $3.84.
